THE FED BUDGET PROCESS

Once the government shutdown is over, then my domestic speculative eye turns to the Federal budget process. Congress has to pass and have the President sign twelve (12) budgets totaling over $7 TRILLION!

Since we haven’t featured the budget process here is a short summary - thanks to Perplexity:

For FY2026, Congress must pass 12 annual appropriations bills to fully fund the discretionary operations of the federal government. These 12 bills are each crafted by corresponding subcommittees in both the House and Senate and must be enacted by October 1 to avoid a government shutdown. This requirement is consistent with previous fiscal years and is a key part of the regular budget process.​
